HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF
HOUSTON
When Hurricane Harvey hit our Texas coast, Andy Standish, founder of Standish Foundation, jumped into action. With a call to action to the community to help children living in temporary shelters, the foundation received generous donations of Beanie Babies, small toys, bubbles, stickers, and Ziploc bags from community members. Michaels Stores was willing to sell us hundreds of coloring books at cost, using donated funds. A team of volunteers worked for hours on a holiday weekend to prepare the play kits for volunteers to drive to Texas cities affected by the hurricane. Community volunteers included Carrie Welch, Michael “Miles” Standish, and Megan DiBartolo. We appreciate the community’s support in allowing us to provide 1,000 play kits to children who have suffered major losses due to Hurricane Harvey.
